We welcome you to the website of the Augustinians in Cork, a city whose hospitality we ourselves have enjoyed for more than seven hundred years. Sustained by the people of Cork through turbulent centuries, sometimes we flourished in public and sometimes survived in hiding. A few hundred metres away stands the city’s oldest building, the tower of the Red Abbey that housed us in the early fourteenth century and perhaps before. We sit exactly where roads from west and east pour humanity onto the city’s Grand Parade. On that parade now it seems the nations of the world meet and mix. We try to provide a place for all to tell a story to God or man and sit to quiet the restless heart on the road to rest in God. Welcome, all.
‘You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.’
